Custom web design and online stores, built by hand in Auckland.

I'm Daniel Olliver, a software developer. I design and build every site myself, from scratch: no templates, no offshore team, and it's all yours to keep.

The work

Most of what I build runs private, behind client logins. Here's the site you can click around right now, and what else is in production.

Back to Nature Tours

Dunedin tour operator · running since 1997

Their old site was slow, dated and awkward to change. I redesigned it from the ground up: a fast custom design on a platform the owner edits himself, with FareHarbor bookings, a tours CMS, and a full SEO migration that kept every ranking URL intact.

“The finished website exceeded my expectations, with a seamless booking integration, great attention to detail, and a polished, professional result.”

How a project runs.

We map what it needs to do

Enquiries, bookings, online sales — we get clear on the one or two things the site actually has to achieve for you.

I build it, custom and fast

Hand-coded, mobile-first, with SEO, analytics and speed built in from the start. You see it come together the whole way.

You launch and own it

Code, hosting, domain and data all in your name. Easy to update, and I'm here when you want changes — no lock-in.

Who you're dealing with.

Daniel OlliverSoftware developer, Auckland

I'm a software developer, not a design shop reselling templates. I build production systems for a living, including a patient-assessment platform for a UK healthcare provider where the software has real stakes, and I bring that same engineering standard to business websites and online stores.

No offshore team, no account manager: you deal directly with the person writing the code. Everything I claim here is verifiable — this page is live proof of the speed, and you can see who is behind the work, my development portfolio, LinkedIn, and Olliver Web's Google profile and reviews.

Start with a $100 website audit.

Not ready to commit to a build? This is the low-risk way to start. I'll pull your current site apart and show you exactly where it's losing you visitors and sales, with no obligation to go any further.

What you get

  • A plain-English audit of your current site: load speed, mobile, Google/SEO, and the spots where visitors drop off instead of enquiring.
  • A prioritised fix list — the handful of changes that would actually move the needle, ranked by impact.
  • A clear proposal with real numbers if you want it built, so you can decide either way. No pressure.

Questions I get asked.

What does it cost?

Most small-business sites land between $2,000 and $8,000, and custom online stores from around $6,000, depending on scope. You get a fixed quote up front — never an open-ended hourly bill.

Do I own it when it's done?

Completely. Code, hosting, domain and analytics are all in your accounts, in your name. No lock-in to a builder you keep paying for, nothing held hostage.

How long does it take?

A typical small-business site is 2–4 weeks from kickoff; a custom store 4–8 weeks. You see it in progress the whole way, not just at the end.

Why not just use Wix or a template?

Wix and templates can be a sensible quick start. The trade-off is that a crowded theme or too many add-ons can slow the site down and box you in. A custom build is worth it when speed, ownership or requirements beyond the template matter. That speed is measurable — run Lighthouse on this page.

Will it rank on Google?

SEO is built in from line one — fast clean code, proper structure, sitemaps, structured data, analytics. Ranking also depends on your market, so I'll tell you honestly what SEO can and can't do rather than promise page one.

Can you fix or speed up my existing site?

Often, yes. Not every site needs a rebuild: oversized images, missing basics and the odd broken thing can be fixed on what you have. The $100 audit gives you a straight answer on which camp your site is in, and a prioritised fix list either way.

Can you add AI features?

Yes — I build production AI systems too: support chatbots trained on your content, smart search, automated product copy. Optional, and only where it earns its place.

Tell me what your website needs to do.

Send the basics through the form, or get in touch by phone or email. You tell me about the business; I'll tell you straight what it would take and what it would cost. Not ready for a build yet? Start with a $100 website audit instead.
